Vegas Baby

What a week in Vegas. Three nights, three shows. Criss Angel, Bette Midler, and Beatles LOVE. The pictures for this entry are from the Barrett-Jackson auction held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

Painesdale Colors

Even though the colors of the Jeffers Jets are green and white, Painesdale as a town really shows its colors each fall. Visiting my parents, I walked around some old walking trails to capture some falls scenery.

The full gallery is here.

St. Augustine, Florida

Following our lighthouse tour in St. Augustine, we toured the historic district. This gallery is the last set of pictures from our fun Florida vacation.

St. Augustine Lighthouse

I am finally getting around to the last pictures from our Florida trip. This gallery is from our last day visit to St. Augustine and our second lighthouse visit of the trip. Its hard to believe we crammed so much into our last day on our way to the airport.

Daytona Cubs Game in Daytona Beach

These pictures are from a Daytona Cubs Minor League Baseball game we attended while in Florida. The Cubs are a farm team for the Chicago Cubs.

It was really a lot of fun in an informal setting.

Oh yes, Kriss's shells are at the end of this gallery too.

Ponce DeLeon Lighthouse

Finally got one more set of vacation pictures uploaded. This set is from our visit to the Ponce DeLeon Lighthouse. Kriss tells me it is the second tallest lighthouse in the country. After climbing all the steps on a 98+ degree day, I think its the tallest.

The set starts with outside pictures and then shows us climbing up and down the stairs. The stairs were really neat and made for some abstract shots which may look good in black and white down the road. The pictures from the top are of Daytona Beach and the surrounding waterways.

The next pictures are of the grounds and museum buildings. One of the buildings had a bunch of the glass from decommissioned lighthouses. There are some pictures of the nature trail and finally a tortoise. If you look at the first tortoise pic, you see a bottom fence slat broken out. The tortoise had just broken that part of the fence when we arrived. A pretty determined creature.

Anyway, that was our hot muggy day at the lighthouse. Definitely a recommended stop in Florida.

Cypress Lake Airboat Ride

Some more Florida vacation pictures. This gallery is from our ride on an airboat at Cypress Lake. Kriss carefully researched and found that this one hour ride was the longest available.

I have to admit I was kind of lukewarm on the idea since the drive was so long to get there and it was in the middle of nowhere.

In the end, it was one of the most fun days we had and the photo opportunities were amazing.

Florida Sunrise

Every vacation trip needs pictures of a sunrise. And every day in Florida is sunny, right?

WRONG!

I had good intentions of getting up early one morning on our recent Florida vacation to get sunrise pictures. I also figured any day would do since its always sunny in Florida. Well, the day I picked to shoot a sunrise was not sunny. In fact, you could barely make out the colors of the sun. This small gallery is what I was able to pull off with no real sunrise that morning.

Howie Mandel

Pictures from the closing keynotes at HP Technology Forum and Expo 2008 featuring Worldplay once again and comedian Howie Mandel.

Of course there were speakers from Intel, AMD, HP, and Brocade as well.

WorldPlay

The opening band for Matchbox 20 and the house/corporate band for the Expo was WorldPlay. They performed covers from the 70's, 80's, and 90's like nobody's business. It seems difficult enough to find one female singer that can scream, but this band had two. Here are the pictures from their performance prior to Matchbox 20.

Matchbox 20

I had the privilege of attending the HP Technology Forum and Expo 2008 in Las Vegas again this year. The closing act was Matchbox 20. I managed to squeeze into the fourth row of wild geek fans to grab shots of the band and lead singer Rob Thomas.
